This certifies that your solar panels meet rigorous safety requirements, including fire resistance, electrical shock protection, and structural integrity under environmental stress.
Most homeowners are most concerned about hail damage towards their panels. The UL 61730 certifications tests panels under extreme conditions to make sure they stand the test of time.
Specifically, solar panels are tested for hail resistance by firing ice balls (typically 1 inch in diameter) at speeds of roughly 52mph using a cannon. The panels must withstand at least 11 impacts without breaking the glass, cracking cells, or degrading power output by more than 5%.
