We're doing everything we can to lower our carbon footprint, and we want to help others learn some energy-saving ideas too. Gather a group of people (we request 10 or more adults if possible) and schedule our free presentation on "Phantom Loads: Reduce your carbon footprint, it makes cents!" or "Solar Power 101." Presentations offered in and around the Twin Cities

Phantom Loads: Reducing your carbon footprint

"Phantom Loads: Reducing your carbon footprint" focuses on electricity use, and what each of us can be doing to lower our carbon footprint by considering conservation, efficiency, and phantom loads. LEED homes are designed using these principles. "Phantom Loads: Reduce your carbon footprint" is of current and general interest to everyone because of both climate change and rising fuel costs. My own family reduced our electricity use by 50% in just a few months, using the ideas from my presentation and without spending more than a few dollars. Not only does this save money every month, but it lessens our negative impact on the planet. Conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy work together to help us tread lightly on the earth.

Solar Power 101

"Solar Power 101" introduces homeowners and builders to how solar energy technologies can be used to provide some or all of their energy from a renewable source. We installed a small 7-panel solar electric system and are now using just 13% of the national average utility-provided electricity in our home. Solar energy qualifies for LEED points for those seeking this certification. "Solar Power 101" goes over the two basic technologies for harnessing power from the sun, solar-electric/photovoltaics and solar-thermal. It is not an overly-technical presentation, and ideal for anyone interested in learning about solar power. Education is the first step to learning the best way to take advantage of solar energy.
